Programs and Services of Fremont Public Library

Our library prides itself on going above and beyond what is required in order to provide excellent customer service. With that goal in mind, our offer goes far beyond books. In an attempt to keep up to date with technology, we introduced Hoopla Digital media service, allowing our patrons to read e-books and comic books through their internet browser or to download them for offline enjoyment by using the free Hoopla app (e-audiobooks, movies, and music are also available).

The Friends of the Library, our fundraising arm, organize book sales with books donated by our generous community.

We do not forget our youngest readers either, with our numerous youth programs aiming to encourage reading from the early years. Our "1000 Books before Kindergarten" reading program encourages parents to foster their children's reading habits by hitting the milestone of having read 1000 books with them before Kindergarten. Another program, Story Time, features stories for kids and is organized weekly during the school year on Mondays or Wednesdays at 10:15 am, along with year-round programming for children and teens. To welcome our future readers into their reading community and introduce their parents to our services, Fremont public library sends a welcome kit to every child born in the Fremont library district. On top of that, we have a collection of music titles for children, Backyard Explorer Kits, Disc Golf & other game kits and Playaway Views video players for children.

We are aware that some of our patrons love to discuss their favorite books with other avid readers and associate with them. This is why we organize book group discussions in different book clubs and offer multiple copy kits for them.

Those patrons who want to research local history or their family history, have our databases at their disposal. They can use local history room or gain an access to Ancestry Library, Heritage Quest Online and military records at Fold3.

Fremont public library also organizes computer classes and e-reader assistance, with a goal to help patrons learn how to research our online book collections and databases. There is also an option to book an appointment for individual assistance. Our computers and WiFi are available to all patrons and guests over 18 with identification. Printing is available at .10 per sheet.

If it happens that we do not own the desired book, patrons can obtain it through our inter-library loan service. Our collection is large and in addition to paper books, it includes e-books and audio books, DVD movies, popular magazines, and newspapers and educational kits.

Our media lab equipment is available to use in-house by appointment. Kodak Batch Scanner scans and digitalizes up to 25 pages per batch and our HP Flatbed Scanner digitalizes fragile or large photos, slides, negatives, and transparencies. Toshiba VCR to DVD video recorder, DVD/CD/ Blu-ray Disc Duplicator creating up to 3 duplicates at one time and Sony Digital Voice Recorder, are also among our media lab equipment. Husqvarna Sewing Machine, American Button Machine and Ellison Die Cut Machine are at our patrons' disposal when they need them.

We also provide meeting rooms for public use and by sign-up. Tax forms can be obtained as available. Our patrons can use a public copier at .10 per copy as well as a public fax machine for outgoing faxes ($1.75 for the first page).

Public Library Access Cards, allowing patrons to borrow from any library in the state, can be purchased by any resident of Indiana, while reciprocal borrowing with Carnegie Public Library of Steuben Country is available to our patrons at no cost.

Thank you to the staff at Learning Express for their generous donation of new children's books. Also thank you to the anonymous donor who left so many excellent children's books outside our door.

A Big thank you to Sarah Lamirande for her donation of brand new VHS tape rewinders and a box of thermal paper rolls for our receipt printer!!
